PART.01

SURFACE BONDING STRENGTH

If the strength between the decorative layer (wood grain paper, paint) and the base material is insufficient, it will fall off with a slight tear, just like low-quality wallpaper.

Test principle: To measure the bonding strength between the surface layer of the board and the underlying material, expressed as the ratio of the maximum destructive tensile force of the surface layer perpendicular to the board surface to the bonding area of the specimen.

INTERNAL BONDING STRENGTH

The "solidity" of the layers (wood chips and fiber layers) inside the plywood. If the strength is poor, the board will crack layer by layer after a long time of use.

Test principle: The tensile strength of the specimen surface is measured when it is subjected to uniformly distributed tensile force until it is destroyed. It is the ratio of the maximum destructive tensile force perpendicular to the specimen surface to the specimen area.

ADHESIVE LAYER SHEAR STRENGTH

The ability of glue to resist lateral pushing. For example, when the cabinet expands due to moisture, if the glue layer cannot withstand it, the two boards will be misaligned.

Test principle: Gradually apply compressive load to the sample to cause shear failure of the adhesive layer to determine the bonding quality.

FOUR MAJOR REASONS AFFECTING BONDING STRENGTH

1. Glue quality: Poor quality glue is not only weak but also releases formaldehyde. CONSMOS Wood Industry selects high-quality adhesive "Dynea Phenolic Glue", which is the best waterproof glue, taking into account both strength and health.

2. Wood properties: If the wood is too wet, the glue will be soaked; if it is too dry, the glue will not be able to be held. CONSMOS Wood strictly controls the moisture content of the wood (8%-12%) to make the gluing more stable.

3. Production process: Uneven glue coating, insufficient hot pressing temperature. These details are the "killers" of bonding strength. CONSMOS Wood Industry uses 130℃ high temperature + 10MPa high pressure to allow the glue to penetrate deeply, which is comparable to "steel welding".

4. Use environment: High temperature and high humidity will accelerate the aging of glue. After the CONSMOS board is glued, the aging time should be controlled within an appropriate range to avoid the decrease of bonding strength due to too long time.
